John W. Shore, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Shore is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire and finished at the top of his medical school class at Washington University in St. Louis. He completed a surgical internship and an ophthalmology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. While completing his U.S. Air Force commitment, Dr. Shore served as Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and as Director of Residency Training at Wilford Hall and was Consultant to the USAF Surgeon General. In 1988 he joined the Harvard University faculty as Associate Chief of Ophthalmogy and Director of the Oculoplastic Surgery Service at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. While there Dr. Shore oversaw research on orbital implants, for which he holds two U.S. patents, and trained both U.S. and international fellows. He continues to teach and lecture. He is a former President of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, former Chairman of the Board of Prevent Blindness Texas – Austin Branch, and is the recent past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

He and his wife, Suzanne, have two sons. Before beginning his medical training, Dr. Shore was an Air Force fighter pilot. He still loves to fly.
